Sandy Springs has called a public information open house to share two, alternative concepts for improving the congested intersection of Johnson Ferry Road and Mount Vernon Highway.
The meeting is scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 30, at City Hall, 1 Galambos Way. A short presentation will be followed by the open house, where residents can review the concepts, ask questions and make comments.
“Two grid alternatives are proposed, with both alternatives creating two separate east-west corridors that can operate independently of each other,” according to the city’s announcement of the meeting. “Sidewalks and enhanced pedestrian connectivity are also included in both plans.”
The goal, officials said, is to enhance safety, improve operational efficiency, reduce traffic accidents and minimize congested-related delays – unlike the present situation, with “multiple turning movements, side-street spillover, insufficient turning lane capacity and excessive congestion.”
