Marietta police are investigating a pedestrian accident on Whitlock Avenue.

Marietta police are investigating a collision involving a pedestrian that occurred Friday evening on Whitlock Avenue.

A department news release said James Turnbull, 56, of Marietta, was crossing Whitlock Avenue outside of a crosswalk west of Kirkpatrick Drive when he was struck by a 2016 Ram pickup traveling in a westbound lane. The truck was driven by Julio Galvan Lugo, 31, also of Marietta, police said.

The incident occurred about 8:15 p.m. The matter is under investigation and no citations were announced.

“While the investigation is still active, preliminary indications are that Mr. Turnbull darted into traffic,” police spokesman Officer Chuck McPhilamy said. “At this time no charges are anticipated against the driver of the pickup truck.”

Marietta police said in the release Turnbull failed to yield to oncoming traffic. He was taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital for serious injuries with serious injuries.

He was still in the hospital Monday afternoon.

“We are told he is in stable condition,” McPhilamy said.
