Forsyth County Sheriff’s officials said a continuing crackdown on driving under the influence is resulting in an uptick in arrests.

The agency said that 57 arrests were made in January as law officers concentrated efforts in a number of spots around the county. That follows 63 in December. A sheriff’s spokesman said in an average month about 30 DUI suspects are collared.

The county initiated a joint crackdown with Alpharetta Police after two DUI-related crashes in one night late last year involving law officers from both jurisdictions. One of them injured a Forsyth County Sheriff’s deputy doing traffic enforcement along Ga. 400.

The sheriff’s office said the crackdown continued through the Super Bowl weekend.
