Cobb Commissioners have named the county manager, Rob Hosack, as the “primary point of contact” between the county and the Atlanta Braves on matters related to SunTrust Park.

The appointment comes after commissioners expressed dismay earlier this month over ongoing disputes with the team over stadium costs. That rift ended in a settlement under which the Braves will pay the county more than a million dollars to cover water and sewer at the ballpark, but the amount is less than what Cobb originally said the team owed.

Previously, the point person for the county was Michael Murphy, Chairman Mike Boyce’s assistant for special projects. Boyce said shifting responsibility to the county manager was not a reflection on Murphy, but rather a natural step in the evolution of the county’s relationship with the Braves.

“All the issues have been settled now, as far as we can tell, but we got 28 more years in this if not longer,” Boyce said, referring to the 30-year deal with the team. “Things might come up.”
