Woman arrested on public drunkenness following Paulding arson

A person is now in custody as families are left without a home after a fire ripped through a Paulding County neighborhood.

A woman faces public drunkenness charges a day after nearly two dozen homes were damaged in what Paulding County fire officials believe was an early morning arson.

Adrienne Sattery is also a person of interest in the Hiram fire, Channel 2 Action News reported. The fire started Sunday in Sattery’s dining room before wind picked up embers, which quickly spread it to surrounding Greystone subdivision homes on Rosemont Court.

Four homes were destroyed by the flames and 16 others were damaged, Paulding fire officials said in a Facebook post.

Everyone got out of their homes safely, but one person suffered a minor ankle injury, Channel 2 reported.

“I’ve worked with some of the restaurants in the city of Hiram,” Hiram police Officer Clifford McGrady told the news station. “They’re going to be giving them lunch and dinner — no charge. “

The Red Cross is assisting families with lodging at hotel rooms.

“We’re going to be doing extra patrols out here,” McGrady said, “(and) make sure there’s no vandalism going on as well.”
