An Athens man was shot at home, police said.

A man is in serious condition in a hospital after he was shot Monday at his home in Athens, police said.

According to Athens-Clarke County police spokesman Epifanio Rodriguez, the victim told police an intruder entered his home on Sir Matthew Road and shot him.

Officers found the man near his residence, bleeding from a gunshot wound.

Police are investigating, and anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact Kim Johnson or David Norris at 706-613-3888.
