An inmate who was convicted of multiple offenses in Gwinnett and Cobb counties escaped from a state prison facility Monday, officials said.

Kevin Gerald Lee Meeks walked away from the Atlanta Transitional Center in the 300 block of Ponce de Leon Avenue about 12:30 p.m., according to a tweet from the state Department of Corrections.

Meeks was last seen wearing civilian clothes. He is described as 5-foot-10 and 168 pounds.

Anyone who sees Meeks is advised not to approach him and to call 911, according to the tweet.

Meeks’ Gwinnett convictions in 2016 and 2014 include aggravated assault, possession of methamphetamine and reckless conduct, according to the Department of Corrections website.

His Cobb convictions include obstructing an officer in 2011.

The Atlanta facility's mission is to "prepare adult male felons who are nearing the end of their incarceration to assume responsible citizenship," according to its website.
