A man who was fatally shot while leaving a southwest Atlanta gas station early Monday may have been targeted, police said.

The man, identified by the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office as Tobias Davis, was found dead around 3:30 a.m. in the parking lot of a Circle K on the corner of Lakewood Way and Lakewood Avenue. He had multiple gunshot wounds, Atlanta police spokesman Officer Jarius Daugherty said.

According to Channel 2 Action News, the victim had just paid for gas inside the convenience store and was returning to his vehicle when he was shot.

“At this time, it does appear that the victim was targeted,” Daugherty said in a statement. “The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting continues.”
