Argument between woman, 2 men leaves all 3 shot in NW Atlanta, cops say

Police say the front yard was full of people, including children, and it was a miracle no one else got hit.

Police are investigating a triple shooting in northwest Atlanta on Wednesday afternoon.

Three people were shot in the 300 block of Illinois Avenue about 3:30 p.m., Atlanta police spokeswoman Stephanie Brown told AJC.com. Police believe the incident was “contained to the involved parties,” meaning there wasn’t a suspect on the loose.

Lt. Andrea Webster told Channel 2 Action News the incident began when an angry ex-boyfriend confronted his ex-girlfriend and another man outside the home, leading to at least five or six gunshots being fired.

All three people were hit, and the ex-boyfriend is in critical condition after being shot in the head, Channel 2 reported. The woman was shot in the hand, and the other man was shot in the stomach. Both are expected to survive.

Webster told the news station children were present in the yard and neighborhood, saying, “it was a very reckless act for sure.”

Two handguns were collected from the scene, which was cleared just before 6 p.m.

No other details have been released. An investigation is ongoing.
